WholeTrove is committed to making wholetrove.com usable by as many people as possible, including those who rely on assistive technologies. This statement explains our standards, where we are today, and how to reach us if something isn’t working for you.
Our standard
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. This is the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 in the United States, and the European Accessibility Act (EAA). We are not claiming full conformance yet; the notes below describe what is in place today and what we are still improving.
Accessibility menu
Every page has an accessibility control on the left edge of the screen. Open it to:
- Enlarge the text in two steps, without breaking the layout.
- Highlight links so they are underlined and easy to spot.
- Turn on high contrast to darken text and strengthen links.
- Reduce motion to switch off animations and transitions.
Your choices are saved on your device and stay on until you reset them.
What we have built in
- Skip to content: a keyboard-focusable “Skip to content” link at the top of every page jumps past the navigation.
- Keyboard navigation: interactive elements (links, buttons, dropdowns, forms, cart, checkout) are reachable and operable using only the keyboard.
- Visible focus: focusable elements show a clear focus outline when you tab to them.
- Screen-reader support: semantic HTML, heading structure, labelled form fields, and ARIA attributes where native semantics fall short.
- Reduced motion: animations respect your device’s reduce-motion setting, and you can force it from the accessibility menu.
- Resizable text: text scales up to 200% without loss of content, both through your browser zoom and the text-size control in the accessibility menu.
- Color contrast: we aim for AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text and controls), and a high-contrast option is available in the accessibility menu.
- Image alternatives: product and interface images include alt text, and purely decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.
- Clear form errors: checkout and account forms show inline error messages next to the field that needs attention.
Known limitations
We test continuously, but no site is perfect. Areas we are actively working on:
- Some legacy product descriptions imported from suppliers may not yet have ideal heading structure. We re-edit these as we re-merchandise.
- A handful of third-party widgets (chat, analytics overlays) may not meet our internal standards. Where possible we substitute or hide them for users on assistive tech.
- Auto-translated content into non-English locales is reviewed by humans on a rolling basis, so translated phrases may occasionally lag the English source.
Tell us when something isn’t working
If you encounter a barrier on WholeTrove, please tell us. We treat accessibility reports as priority bugs.
- Email: [email protected]
- Subject line: “Accessibility report” (helps us route it fast)
- Include if you can: the page URL, the device, browser, or assistive tech you are using, and a short description of what didn’t work
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within two business days and provide a remediation plan or workaround within ten business days.
Alternative ways to shop
If you would rather not use the website directly, we can help you place an order by email. Send us the product link(s) and your shipping address at [email protected] and we will send you a secure checkout link.
Third-party content
Some content on WholeTrove (embedded videos, supplier imagery, social media widgets) is provided by third parties. While we ask partners to meet WCAG 2.2 AA, we cannot guarantee the accessibility of content we do not control. If a specific piece of third-party content blocks you, email [email protected] and we will either replace it or describe it for you.
Updates
We review this statement at least annually and after any major site change. The “Last Updated” date at the top reflects the most recent review.
Formal complaints
If we have not resolved a barrier to your satisfaction, you have the right to escalate. In the United States, the U.S. Department of Justice ADA Information Line accepts complaints. In the European Union, your local national enforcement body for the European Accessibility Act handles complaints.
