This Payment Policy explains how WholeTrove accepts payment, secures transactions, and handles billing.
Accepted payment methods
- Credit and debit cards: major cards including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover
- Eligible digital wallets: wallet options are shown dynamically by Stripe based on your device, browser, location, currency, and cart
- Buy now, pay later: options such as Afterpay, where you and your cart qualify
Available methods at checkout depend on your device, browser, location, currency, cart total, Stripe eligibility, and the issuing bank’s rules. Only the methods displayed in the live payment step are available for that order.
Payment processing and security
Card and wallet payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. Eligible buy-now-pay-later transactions are processed by Afterpay. WholeTrove never sees or stores your full card number. It goes directly from your browser to Stripe over an encrypted (TLS 1.2+) connection.
- All checkout traffic is encrypted end-to-end
- 3-D Secure (3DS2) authentication is used where the issuing bank requires it
- Stored cards are tokenized, so only Stripe can decrypt them
- Stripe’s fraud-prevention engine (“Radar”) screens every transaction in real time
Currency and pricing
Product prices are shown in your selected currency via the currency picker. The default base currency is USD. Conversion rates are refreshed daily from a trusted public source; they’re for display only; your bank may apply a slightly different rate at the time of capture.
The final charged amount and currency are shown on the order-confirmation screen before you press Place order.
When you’re charged
- Cards / wallets: The full order total is captured immediately upon order confirmation.
- Buy now, pay later: Charges follow the provider’s installment schedule. We are not party to the consumer-credit agreement.
Failed and declined payments
If your payment is declined, the order is not created and you are not charged. Some banks may show a temporary pending hold that drops off in 1 to 5 business days. Common reasons: incorrect card details, insufficient funds, or a fraud-prevention block from your bank. Contact your bank first; if the issue persists, write to [email protected] and we’ll look into it.
Refunds
Refunds are issued to the original payment method. Card refunds typically post within 10 business days; wallet refunds are usually faster; BNPL refunds follow the provider’s reconciliation cycle. Full details on our Refund & Returns page.
Chargebacks and disputes
If you don’t recognize a charge from WholeTrove, please email [email protected] before opening a chargeback with your bank; most cases are resolved within hours. Chargebacks opened without contacting us first may delay refunds and, in cases of confirmed fraudulent disputes, can result in account suspension.
Sales tax, duties, and import fees
Sales tax, where applicable, is calculated and shown at checkout based on your shipping address. For international orders, customs duties and import taxes are the responsibility of the recipient and are collected by the carrier at delivery. WholeTrove does not declare lower values or mark packages as gifts.
Promotions and coupons
Coupon codes and promotional pricing have terms shown on the promotional message (minimum spend, eligible items, expiry date). One promotional code per order unless explicitly stated. Promotions can’t be applied after an order is placed; if you forgot a code, contact [email protected] within 24 hours of placement and we’ll do our best.
